Five Senior Bowl WRs for the Washington Football Team to target
5. WR Amari Rodgers Clemson
Amari Rodgers profiles best as a slot receiver in the NFL. However he is not your typical slot wide receiver you think of that comes from Clemson. He is much thicker than you would expect, which helps him shrug off tacklers.
He also has surprising speed. He is quick in and out of his breaks. He seems to have an extra gear of acceleration. Once he gains a step, the separation quickly turns into three or four steps. Rodgers is a technician as a route runner.
Rodgers is just a very smart football player. His lack of size may limit him in some situations, but he understands how to get open. He has a knack at creating space. And after the catch, he is elusive and slippery.
He sometimes suffers from sheer lack of concentration, where he is seen to have inexplicable drops. But that is fixable. And the Clemson coaching staff raved about his great work ethic
Amari Rodgers is sure to impress during interviews. His football IQ and work ethic will show. I expect him to be taken somewhere on Day 2.
Rodgers fits nicely into that slot role in Scott Turner’s offense. His ability to create separation at the stem of his routes and then create yards after the catch will be pleasing to the eye of Turner. With three picks on Day 2, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Rodgers selected by the Washington Football Team
