Round 1, Pick 19: WR Kadarius Toney, Florida

The Washington Football Team is almost certainly going to be going offense in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They are well-positioned to land an offensive tackle or receiver here to bolster their offense and they may be in the running for Mac Jones if they like him enough.

That said, in this mock draft, we wanted to see what it would be like for Washington to target a receiver. Of the bunch at the Senior Bowl, Kadarius Toney was the best and he has set his draft stock ablaze as a result.

Throughout the week in Mobile, Toney was one of the best movers at receiver. He showed a knack for shaking defensive backs with quick footwork and an ability to explode and blow by them when he gains the slightest bit of separation. Toney proved that he can turn anything into a big play and worked well with the various quarterbacks he worked with throughout the week.

Toney has excellent versatility and can play every receiver position on the offensive side of the ball. He also has experience as a ball carrier. Simply put, all you have to do is get the ball into his hands. If you can do that, Toney can make defenses play.

Washington will surely be interested in Toney after this week. They had already been linked to the receiver in multiple mock drafts coming out this time of year, and with Toney looking more and more like a top-25 pick, taking him at 19 no longer seems like a reach of any sort.

Toney’s fast, he has a solid 5-foot-11, 189-pound frame, and he posted 1,145 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns while serving as Kyle Trask’s favorite receiver. And, he has four years of experience in the Florida offense.

Toney would be a great complement to Terry McLaurin as a No. 2 receiver that can move all over the formation. Though the team could consider going in another direction here, upgrading the pass-catching weapons in this offense will be critical, no matter who the quarterback is next season. That makes Toney a nice fit and a potential breakout star as a part of this offense.
