Washington Football Team: Defensive prospects to watch at Senior Bowl
By Ian Cummings
No. 3 – National Team S/LB Divine Deablo (Virginia Tech)
Some of you may be familiar with this player. One of the Senior Bowl’s participants comes from around the D.C. area. His name is Divine Deablo, from the Virginia Tech Hokies, and he has a great deal of upside at a potentially digestible price.
Diablo represents an opportunity to add versatility for the Washington Football Team’s defense. Washington needs help at both safety and linebacker, and Deablo is a player who might be able to blend the line between those two positions.
At the Senior Bowl, Deablo measured in over 6-foot-3, with a 226-pound frame, and he also had decent length with a wingspan over 79 inches. Even at his size, Deablo showed impressive movement capacity. He wasn’t as consistent as desired in run defending drills, but as a coverage player, Deablo displayed good closing speed, fluidity, and playmaking instincts.
Deablo could raise his stock with a strong in-game performance, but after a week that was only decent, his stock is still in the middle rounds. If he manages to slip to Round 4, he’d be a high-upside, high-value addition for the Washington Football Team. Even with their second Round 3 pick, however, he’s a good prospect to consider.
