Five prospects the Washington Football Team should draft after Senior Bowl
There were a lot of good receivers in action on Saturday afternoon and in truth, choosing any of them would benefit Washington. Frank Darby had a nice contested-catch grab. Amari Rodgers made a lot of plays in the second half. The same can be said of Shi Smith. And Demetric Felton had a nice touchdown and showed off good movement skills.
That said, the best of the bunch in this game was Dez Fitzpatrick. The reason for that is simple.
Fitzpatrick showed off a wide variety of ways to win during this game. Early, he used his route running to win and provide Sam Ehlinger with a target to throw to. He had a particularly nice catch on the sideline where he grabbed a pass and completed a beautiful toe-drag to ensure he got both feet down to make the catch.

Fitzpatrick continued to be productive no matter who was at the quarterback spot. And in the fourth quarter, he elevated to make a catch on a Feleipe Franks pass. The play showed off his soft hands and that his skill set isn’t all about route running.
At 6-foot-2, Fitzpatrick has the size needed to be versatile. He showed off good athletic ability and most importantly, his route running was solid. That’s why he was able to get open often; he had good footwork and showed off some quickness in his release.
If Washington wants to add a versatile receiver to provide depth to their roster, Fitzpatrick would qualify. He shouldn’t cost too much to get, but he has the upside of a starter. He really got a chance to show out in this game, but he may be underrated in a great receiver class.
If that happens, Washington should be ready to pounce and draft Fitzpatrick.
