Green Bay Packers. Kadarius Toney. 30. player. 49. . Wide Receiver

After the success Aaron Rodgers had following the selection of QB Jordan Love last year, perhaps the Packers should spend a first-round selection on Kyle Trask to keep Rodgers’ feet to the fire.

Jokes aside, there are a handful of areas that the Packers could upgrade, but with Rodgers now entering the twilight of his career (presumably), the team should build a better receiving corps around him. Davante Adams is obviously elite and Robert Tonyan emerged as a nice weapon at the tight end spot, but outside of that, the team doesn’t have any consistent playmakers and didn’t do enough to upgrade their weaponry last offseason. That cost them against the Bucs.

Both Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have shown off at times, but week-to-week, they were up and down. The Packers may want to add a true No. 2 receiver to complement Adams and push the MVS-Lazard duo into the No. 3 receiver role.

Kadarius Toney is a good option for the Packers at this point. Toney could end up going higher than this because of his athletic profile.

Toney is great with the ball in his hands. He’s elusive, sees the field well, and has easy speed that can help him to beat defenders. He stretches the field vertically, but he also has enough weight on his 6-foot frame (193 pounds) to fight off contact and break some tackles.

Toney could be a true weapon for the Packers if he can mesh with Aaron Rodgers early in his career. He can be used in a variety of ways in the Green Bay offense and that versatility should serve him well. His versatility is also why NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah mocked Toney to the Washington Football Team, as he would be a good fit for Scott Turner’s offense.

The Packers could also opt for a different receiver, and Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman stands out here, but Toney is more explosive, so he’ll be the top option here for now.
