1. RG Brandon Scherff

This is about the only thing about the offensive line that has gone as expected. Brandon Scherff finished as the best linemen on the team. If you need any more proof look no further than the All-Pro team.

Brandon Scherff was named a First-Team All-Pro. That is Washington’s first All-Pro since 1996 when punter Matt Turk was awarded that honor.

While I believe this still wasn’t Scherff’s best year as a pro, it just shows how great of a career he has had. Scherff is one of the best and most dominant guards in the league.

More from Riggo's Rag

I won’t spend too much time harping on Scherff’s play because you have probably heard it all before. His elite blend of athleticsm and power makes him an absolute menace when run blocking. He gets out in space and absolutely mauls people. You better get out of the way when the Scherff train is coming through.

In pass protection, he can sometimes get off balance and have a poor base causing him to get beat. However, for the most part, he keeps a solid base and does not allow very much interior pressure. He had one really bad showing in Week 17 against Philly. He was getting driven back into the backfield and was dominated for most of the game.

However, other than that game Scherff was good to elite in almost every other game. He is an elite guard. Elite. Scherff still has some injury concerns as over the last three years he has missed extended time due to injury. It will always be a concern.

Scherff’s contract is up. With his newest honor of All-Pro, I am sure that means his asking price will go up. Paying a guard is risky. Paying one with an injury history and one who is already almost 30 is even riskier.

However, in this case, with a talent like Scherff, I would do everything in my power to keep someone like him around. I expect a deal to be done for Scherff in the near future.
