Final Thoughts

So what is next for the Washington Football Team offensive line? Well, as I said, I expect Brandon Scherff to be re-signed. I expect most of this line to stay intact heading into next year. I do believe, however, that adding depth will be something that is pretty high up on the priority list.

With the expected attrition of the offensive line, this team needs better depth at that spot. And with the quality signings this team made last offseason, I trust they will address that problem fairly well this offseason.

I also think while Cornelius Lucas was solid, I would not be surprised if the team targets the “future left tackle” somewhere in the draft. Or maybe, just maybe, we get a Trent Williams reunion? He is an unrestricted free agent this year. Just throwing it out there.

The offensive line for the Washington Football Team vastly overachieved for the talent it was perceived to have on paper. Ron Rivera and the front office deserves a lot of credit for attacking free agency the way they did to find guys like Cornelius Lucas and Wes Schweitzer.

Offensive line coach John Matsko deserves some credit for getting the most out of this unit. And of course every player deserves credit for maximizing their talent.

The Washington Football Team has gone from a glaring need to a position that is close to being a strength. They still need some better depth and they probably still need their franchise left tackle. But, with that said, the outlook of the Washington Football Team offensive line today is a lot better than it was in August.
