Positive 4 – Playoff Game

Logan Thomas is a positive yet again and he continued to improve as the season progressed.  Saturday night against Tampa Bay, Thomas caught five passes for a total of 74 yards.  One catch for 24 yards came on a first quarter drive as Thomas caught a short pass and juked his defender on the sideline for an extra 15 yards.  Such plays became routine for Thomas in the second half of the season.

Positive 4 – 2020 Season

Montez Sweat and Chase Young became one of the best defensive end duos in the NFL this season.  Here is what they combined to produce for the Washington Football Team in 2020.

  • 16.5 sacks
  • 10 pass deflections
  • 22 tackles for lost yardage
  • 32 quarterback hits
  • Six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries
  • 89 tackles

Here is the scary part – look for these statistics to improve substantially in 2021 and beyond.

Negative 4 – Playoff Game

Steven Sims is on the negative list once again.  Offensive production was not the issue against Tampa Bay.  It is his decision making issues as a punt returner.  Sims needs to field punts that could bounce deep inside the 10 or 20-yard line.  One such decision proved to be costly on Saturday.

Negative 4 – 2020 Season

Jeremy Sprinkle actually caught a pass in the playoff game.  Here is what we said about him last week.

"Jeremy Sprinkle is no longer a reliable receiving option in this offense.  He is a fine blocker and good blocking tight ends are needed for any successful team.  However, he offers little to no value in the passing offense.  Sprinkle’s contract with the Washington Football Team ends after the final game of this season and it is time to move on."
