Joe Schoen. 3. player. 16. . Assistant General Manager. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have quickly turned themselves into a contender in the AFC under Brandon Beane. His regime has done a great job of drafting young talent and signing quality players to reasonable free-agent deals and that will make Joe Schoen a potential general manager candidate.

Schoen has worked in the NFL since 2000 and got his start with, you guessed it, the Carolina Panthers. He worked his way up the scouting ladder and eventually landed with the Miami Dolphins.

Schoen reached the mark of Director of Player Personnel with the Dolphins and helped to add some serious talent to that Miami team. Xavien Howard proved to be one of his best choices with DeVante Parker, Laremy Tunsil, and Bobby McCain also turning into key players for the team.

With the Bills, Schoen has helped Beane turn the team into a deep one with few weaknesses. The team struck gold with their selection of Josh Allen, but selections like Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver, Harrison Phillips, Cody Ford, Taron Johnson, Gabriel Davis, and more have created excellent depth there.

Schoen and Beane have also had an eye for free-agent pickups. They completely turned around the Bills O-Line by signing Mitch Morse, Daryl Williams, Jon Feliciano, and claiming Ike Boettger off waivers. They also added a lot of players in the defensive trenches including Quinton Jefferson, Star Lotulelei, and Vernon Butler to fix things on that side of the ball.

In looking at Schoen’s resume, there are few holes. He has a lot of experience and the work he has done in Buffalo has been nothing short of superb. He may not be proven as a top man, but he has all the experience needed to be a success in this role.
