No. 5 – OG Brandon Scherff

Brandon Scherff has been a limited participant the last two days at practice, nursing a shoulder injury. The Washington Football Team needs him back in the fold if they want to stay competitive against the Buccaneers.

Even with Sherff in, we saw what a modest amount of pressure does to Alex Smith last Sunday. Washington has to do everything in their power to mitigate that, against a rush unit that includes Ndamukong Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Shaquil Barrett.

It’s worth noting that Pierre-Paul might not play, but Scherff will have his hands full with Suh and William Gholston. Suh played at a Pro Bowl level this season, and Gholston also had 3.0 sacks and eight tackles for loss.

If Scherff does his job and does it to the best of his ability on Saturday, then Washington might have a chance to get some momentum on offense. They need their line to be playing at its highest level, and that starts with their Pro Bowl right guard.
