2. Washington sacks Teddy Bridgewater a season-high six times

To be clear, the season-high, in this case, is for Bridgewater. He was sacked five times in a single game against the Buccaneers back in Week 2, but that represents his highest sack-total surrendered of the year.

Washington will surely look to change that. And they should have a good chance to do that.

It seems likely that the Panthers will once again be without their left tackle, Russell Okung, as he continues to deal with a nagging calf injury. As a result, Trent Scott will be starting at that position. Scott has played 304 snaps on the year and has allowed two sacks and committed three penalties in that limited action. He could have trouble battling Washington’s talented front.

More from Commanders News

Washington’s defensive line has played extremely well in recent weeks. They weren’t able to sack Russell Wilson in their loss to the Seahawks, but they certainly impacted the game with the pressure they generated. It’s also worth noting that Montez Sweat and Daron Payne were able to impact passes by getting their hands up into passing lanes, so even without the sacks, the pressure and disruption was there.

Sweat, Payne, Jonathan Allen, Chase Young, and the rest of Washington’s front will continue to win at the point of attack, especially against Carolina’s banged-up front. Bridgewater has been sacked seven times in his last two games combined against the Broncos and Packers defenses, so he will have trouble evading the hyper-athletic front of the Washington Football Team.

Seeing Washington sack Bridgewater six or more times seems possible. It won’t be easy, but if Washington brings their A-game, Bridgewater will be brought down quite a bit. That will do a lot to help Washington in their quest to win this game and wrap up a division title.
