5. Improve offensive line depth

The offensive line has performed significantly above its preseason expectations. However, that does not mean it still does not need tweaking. The left tackle of the future is still probably needed, as Cornelius Lucas is 29.

Another problem arose against the Seahawks. Offensive line depth. Morgan Moses was forced to leave late in the game due to injury. His replacement, David Sharpe, almost gave up a sack-fumble on the last drive of the game. The team was then forced to put Moses back in though he was clearly not well enough to play. He got bull-rushed by Carlos Dunlap on a key third-and-long and allowed a sack that pretty much sealed Washington’s fate.

The Washington Football Team needs better offensive tackle depth. It goes for the same on the interior. Wes Martin cannot be your backup guard.

A franchise tackle is still needed but with Lucas looking like a solid stopgap for now, adding more offensive line depth is the bigger need. Attrition happens in the NFL. You cannot just rely on the starting five offensive linemen. Almost everyone needs to be serviceable.

This should be addressed with cheap contracts in free agency. Get more of the Cornelius Lucas’s and Wes Schweitzer’s of the NFL. Addressing this in the mid to late rounds of the draft would not be a bad idea as well.

As you can tell, most of the Washington Football Teams’ wants or wishes center around the offense. The 2021 offseason should be centered around drastically improving that unit. The defense is growing into a dominant force, so if the offense can match them, the sky is the limit for Washington.
