TE Logan Thomas

This one goes out to all the believers in Logan Thomas when he was signed. That’s right; I’m talking to all zero of you.

Don’t kid yourself. When Logan Thomas was signed, we viewed it as nothing more than a camp body and a possible depth signing. After all, most of us recognized him in another shade of red in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Thomas came to the NFL after quarterbacking the Virginia Tech Hokies but went through a position change after failing to find much success behind center post-college. His time at the tight end position prior to Washington wasn’t anything to hang your hat on either, but none the less, Washington brought him aboard.

Simply put, Thomas has been one of the most surprising impact players this team has signed in quite some time. No, he isn’t a Travis Kelce or a Jordan Reed replacement, but at this point in the season, it’s time to acknowledge that Thomas is a legitimate starting tight end in the NFL.

At key moments in critical games, Thomas has found himself making big catches week after week, none more significant than the tying touchdown reception as Washington went on to dethrone the undefeated Steelers.

He has proven to everyone that he has what starting-caliber tight ends need in the NFL. He has strong hands, and as a physical player, has a big frame who has found success as a blocker. He is athletic, can shed tacklers, and with a college arm, gives Scott Turner the ability to be creative, which he has done plenty of with Thomas.

He’s been far from a perfect player, but Logan Thomas has well-exceeded everyone’s expectations coming into the year. His highlight reel is full of moments to make you feel like he has a bright future ahead of him.
