Stud No. 1 – EDGE Chase Young

Chase Young has been good all year, but the stats haven’t always served as a one-to-one reflection of his play. That’s not a bad thing; if anything, it’s a reminder of how raw stats can sometimes lose key details. But regardless, I think all of us were waiting on the edge of our seats for the game when Chase Young would take over the stat sheet. Because we knew it would happen.

And on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, it did.

The No. 2 overall pick was nearly unblockable against San Francisco, and he traversed the field with searing speed and anticipation. On the day, Young logged six total tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one sack, two pass deflections, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a defensive touchdown.

Young matched up with former Washington Football Team offensive tackle Trent Williams for a good amount of the defensive snaps, and while Williams won a fair share of the snaps, Young held his own against a top-echelon tackle, and he made an undistinguishable impact on the outcome of the game.
