No. 1 – The Washington Football Team will keep it close

My initial prediction for this game was a 27-19 win for the Steelers, and I’m sticking to something resembling that. Washington has a historical habit of falling flat in critical games like this, but the hope is that things will change under Ron Rivera this time around.

Washington is on a two-game winning streak, and in some phases, it looks like the team is starting to figure things out. The defense is playing with more cohesion. The offense is learning its competencies. But now the task is to show up against the NFL’s only undefeated team. A win shouldn’t be expected, but with New York a game ahead, with the tiebreaker, it is almost necessary.

By necessity alone, Washington might keep the game closer than it would otherwise be. The Steelers likely win this game, but Washington needs to put up a fight, not only to have a chance to win, but also to carry a little bit of dignity into the final four-game stretch.
