Washington Football Team Week 13 reality checks vs. Steelers

2. The Reality Is, Jeremy Reaves and Kameron Curl give Washington hope at the safety position.

Neither of these players are blue-chippers. To be starting two young safeties with as little draft stock as these two is almost unheard of in the NFL.

But due to injuries to Landon Collins and Deshazor Everett, they’ve been forced into starter minutes. Given their performance against Dallas and Curl’s continued development throughout the season, they have earned the opportunity to continue starting.

It’s possible that these two could develop into a quality safety tandem. If so, it would be a massive and unexpected step toward Ron Rivera’s ultimate rebuilding plans. Two young, controllable safeties that you can rely on to set the tone in the secondary would extremely valuable.

My Prediction: Reaves and Curl will show additional growth this week, building on their strong performances on Thanksgiving. Look for hard-hitting and limited big plays.
