Round 7

Tony Poljan, Tight End, Virginia (6-7, 225)

Washington adds a second Cavalier to the roster and another prospect at tight end.  Tony Poljan would likely be a practice squad candidate in his first season and needs to add about 25 pounds of bulk and muscle to his frame.

He needs to improve as a blocker but he has good hands and is a solid receiver.  Poljan was a quarterback at Western Michigan and switched to tight end during his junior season, so he is still learning position.  Played this season at Virginia as a graduate transfer.

Warren Jackson, Wide Receiver, Colorado State (6-6, 215)

Warren Jackson is a good receiver and he is a reliable option on “jump” balls, fades, and quick slants in the end zone.  The Rams wide-out likely needs a year on the practice squad as he adjusts to the next level.

Jackson has decent hands and he’s better on shorter and intermediate routes.  He needs to learn blocking schemes.  He has occasional troubles with aggressive, speedy corners.  Jackson would do well in four wide receiver sets when he is not the focus of attention, especially against shorter covers in any mismatch.

Other Possible Seventh Round Targets:

  • Tamorrion Terry, Wide Receiver, Florida State
  • Joshua Kaindoh, Outside Linebacker/Defensive End, Florida State
  • Tariq Castro-Fields, Cornerback, Penn State
  • Cade Mays, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Tennessee
  • Cary Angeline, Tight End, North Carolina State
