5. S Deshazor Everett

There’s no doubt that the Washington Football Team will be happy to have Deshazor Everett back from injury.

In Everett’s absence, Washington had been using Troy Apke as a starter again, and the results there were predictably poor. Apke had some nice plays, including an assist on Chase Young’s monster forced fumble of Joe Burrow on the goal-line against the Bengals, but he also had a brutal interception dropped at another point.

Jeremy Reaves got some action as well, and he continued to look solid when he was on the field. That said, Everett has more experience than him and is an asset to a young and unproven safety room.

Everett’s return couldn’t come at a better time. The Steelers have a strong, consistent offense and having experience on the back end for Washington will be critical. Everett will bring some stability there and a well-rounded skill set that will allow him to help keep the Steelers weapons in check. He may still have some issues against a solid offense, but his potential busts are likely to be less egregious than those of Apke and, to a lesser extent, Reaves.

Getting Everett back is huge for Washington and his performance could be critical to containing the Steelers’ passing game and in run support. We’ll see how he does, but Washington should be happy that they’re getting healthier as the year goes along. Not many teams can say that.
