4. Both teams stay turnover-free during the contest

This actually came very close to happening the first time these two teams met. Washington stayed turnover-free during the game while the Cowboys committed just one in a 25-3 Washington blowout.

This time around, there should be more of the same. Dallas’ defense isn’t good enough to consistently force turnovers while their offense has gotten better at avoiding them. Dalton is prone to the occasional interception, but the team has cut down on turnovers after struggling immensely with them for the first half of the season.

If there are no turnovers in this contest, that could be both a good thing and a bad thing for Washington. Obviously, this offense can’t succeed when they turn the ball over, so any time they can avoid them, that’s good news.

Of course, if they can’t turn the Cowboys over, that will hurt their chances of winning, as one of the main ways they have been able to earn victories this year is by using turnovers to flip the field to assist their offense.

This Thanksgiving game should be a clean one from a turnover standpoint. These teams have cleaned up their act in this respect in recent weeks, so unless one defense (likely Washington’s) can make a big play, the ball will only change hands after punts and after scores.
