Defensive game balls

CB Ronald Darby

Ronald Darby was arguably the MVP for Washington on Sunday.  The WFT produced a mind-boggling eight pass deflections on Sunday.  Half of them came from Darby, often on superb coverage and spectacular plays.

That’s right, four pass deflections.  Some of them came against Joe Burrow and others came at the expense of Ryan Finley.  Darby also chipped in six tackles – tied for second-most on the team.

Darby is playing his way to a possible long-term deal with Washington and it is likely to be a team-friendly contract.  The WFT front office should consider signing him prior to the conclusion of the 2020 season.  For his efforts on Sunday, Ronald Darby is awarded the third game ball and game MVP.

EDGE Chase Young

Chase Young was unhappy with his performance following the Lions game and he more than made up for it against the Bengals.

After constantly getting double and triple the blockers on nearly every play against the Lions, Young committed a silly personal foul late in the contest and it contributed heavily to the loss.  Against the Bengals, Young was the total opposite of what he was one week prior.

Early in the second quarter, Young narrowly prevented Joe Burrow from scoring a touchdown and after a fumble in the end zone, Washington was awarded the ball.  By making such a sensational play, Young prevented the Bengals from having a bigger halftime lead.  What a difference a week makes.

Young constantly pressured the quarterback and nearly intercepted a pass just outside the pocket on a pass he deflected.  His motor was relentless on Sunday and his plays on the field inspired the defense.  For his efforts on Sunday, Chase Young is awarded the fourth game ball.
