Washington Football Team vs. Giants Week 9 preview, matchups to watch, score prediction
Score prediction
There’s a lot to like about Washington’s chances in this one. They have an advantage in terms of rest leading up to this game. They last played in Week 7 while the Giants are on a short week after a Monday night loss.
Motivationally, the Giants are 1-7 and have no hopes of winning the division. Their one win came against Washington, so they could come out flat with not much to play for. Meanwhile, Washington will be looking to win to exact revenge and stay alive in the divisional race.
The offensive side is even, but the defensive advantage that Washington holds is significant. Realistically, the defense probably feels like they should’ve beaten the Giants last time despite a lackluster game in terms of big plays (save for a Fuller interception). So, they should bring their A-game.
And finally, the coaching edge belongs to Washington. Joe Jude hasn’t proven to be a solid coach yet and Jason Garrett’s offense has been poor. Perhaps Judge will create a solid New England-like program down the road, but for now, Ron Rivera’s culture of accountability and recent results should give him a chance to take down New York.
This game should be competitive early, but I expect Washington to pull ahead late. They’ll improve to 3-1 in the division and do a lot to inspire hope for the future in their fans (if not hope for the present).
