Chicago Bears

On paper, this fit would make a lot of sense. In practice, it could be a disaster.

The Bears have had quarterback issues ever since they made the decision to draft Mitch Trubisky. The No. 2 overall pick has been a bust and was benched in favor of Nick Foles early in the season. While the Bears have won five games, their quarterback play has been mostly bad, and Foles led the team to a whopping three offensive points against the Rams on Monday Night Football.

These passers aren’t getting the job done for the Bears. So, they may have to look for a potential-packed option given that they have the defense needed to compete now.

The Bears could see Haskins as a buy-low option to add to their quarterback room and give it more upside. Haskins could hypothetically push both quarterbacks as he learns the game more and if the Bears wanted to move on from Trubisky, they could.

That said, it’s also worth noting that the Bears haven’t been able to develop Trubisky with this coaching staff, so expected them to develop Haskins, who is similarly raw to Trubisky when he came out of college albeit with a better arm, might be a tough ask.

For that reason, the Bears probably aren’t a great fit for Haskins. They may still consider him, but in terms of situations that Haskins could land in, playing for the Bears might be the worst for him of these options.

We’ll soon see if Haskins gets moved and what teams might be interested in him. For now, there are just rumors abuzz as the Nov. 3 trade deadline draws nearer.
