7. RB Phillip Lindsay

Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay has been a solid running back in recent years, but he is now losing a lot of time to Melvin Gordon.  Gordon is the undisputed leader and starter at running back for Denver, but Lindsay rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2018 and 2019.

With Gordon around, Lindsay is now relegated to spot duty for the Broncos.  That’s life in the NFL, but Denver’s loss in this upcoming offseason could be Washington’s gain.

Lindsay will be a restricted free agent next spring, but the tender could be low and the Broncos would receive no draft compensation.  If that happens, the WFT could offer the former Colorado Buffalo a nice package and Denver would have one week to match it.

If Denver matches, then Lindsay continues to make his home in Colorado’s Front Range.  If Denver lets him walk, then Washington snipes a solid running back with no loss of draft picks.  The WFT can’t lose with taking a shot.

The only way this deal won’t happen is if the Broncos offer a second-round tender to Lindsay, but that is highly unlikely.  Adding a second running back in free agency may seem excessive, but we know what comes after Antonio Gibson. Adding Drake and Phillips would be a real coup for Washington and precious draft capital can be spent elsewhere.
