9. QB Cam Newton

Well, this has been put off long enough and now it is time to acknowledge a certain quarterback who is slated to be a free agent in 2021.

New England’s Cam Newton is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about, but it needs to be addressed here and now.  The former Carolina Panther could receive attention from the WFT next spring and the reasons why are obvious.

Will Washington try to sign Newton?  Obviously, Ron Rivera knows the former Auburn Tiger like the back of his own hand.  But there are some questions about the fit.

First, will New England let Newton leave town or will they take the necessary steps to keep him in Patriots attire?  Will the Patriots let him walk after one season?  Would Washington be interested at all?  These are all legitimate questions, but no one knows the answers and it could be next spring before the Patriots tip their cap one way or another.

The chances of Newton playing home games in Landover next year seem very slim, but that elephant is rather large.
