1. Blue-chip talent

This is reason No. 1 that Washington Football Team fans should be excited for the future. For far too long the team has lacked truly elite or “blue-chip” talent. Game changers. They have two now and certainly could have more on the way with some development.

Terry McLaurin is everything you want in a football player. He produces on every Sunday, no matter who is throwing him the football. As evidenced in the viral twitter video of his post-game speech following the Dallas win, he is quickly becoming a leader. McLaurin is an elite football player and if you combine that with the fact that he has no off-the-field concerns, he is the total package.

Chase Young is only six games into his young career yet he already has shown his immesurable impact.

You cannot simply look at box scores to understand Young’s impact. He is already requiring double teams in pass protection. He is a very intelligent player, he almost is never fooled on bootlegs and screen passes. He combines that with his giant frame and elite athleticism to already be a quality run defender.

Young is a complete player. And he is only 21. He is going to terrorize offenses for years to come.

Montez Sweat and Daron Payne are right on the cusp of becoming elite talents in the NFL. Sweat and Payne both have quickly become elite against the run. They use their insane athletic profiles to their advantage and almost swallow the ball carrier.

Sweat has used the extra attention added to Young to his advantage. He leads the team with five sacks. Young and Sweat are one of the leagues best pass-rushing duos.

Kendall Fuller is looking like a steal of a contract. He is playing like of the best cornerbacks in the NFL right now and is serving as a shutdown corner and a playmaker. He is become a game-changing player as well.

The Washington Football Team is quickly gaining something they have lacked since Sean Taylor: elite, game changing talent. They already have two blue-chip players, with the possibility for the development of more.
