Washington Football Team: Three keys to victory vs. Cowboys
2. Establish the run
The Washington Football Team is last in the NFL in average rushing yards per game. They average a meager 82.2 yards per game. They have done a poor job of running the ball. They also have done a poor job of sticking with the run and attempting to establish.
Just last week Kyle Allen had 42 passing attempts against the Giants. That is too many passes. Washington has to do a better job of establishing the run and sticking to it. Unleash the two-headed tandem of J.D. McKissic and Antonio Gibson.
This key is made even more evident with the receivers Washington is trotting on the field on Sunday. It is Terry McLaurin and a bunch of undrafted guys that will be the receivers for the Washington Football Team.
The impact of these receivers, McLaurin excluded, is a big unknown.
Establishing the run will help the stagnant passing attack for Washington. It will be crucial to getting Dallas on their heels and will open up opportunities for their passing attack to work off play action and make some downfield plays.
