6. The Reality Is, Losers Tank.

Tanking is the desperate strategy of franchises so accustomed to losing that they try to convince themselves it’s a positive. Fans that root for their team to lose can be forgiven since it’s the abject long-term failure of their team that conditions them to expect future failures.

But sports are intended to be played and coached by individuals who want to win. Only loser franchises and their fans embrace active tanking because “we’re not going to win the Super Bowl anyway”.

Washington Football is currently one game out of first place in their division. They have exciting young players in a few key positions and a coach who has reached a Super Bowl before. They also have the opportunity, over the next six weeks, to beat Dallas twice and effectively eliminate them from playoff contention.

If you’re rooting for Washington to lose to Dallas twice in the coming weeks because you think the third pick (and make no mistake, you’re not getting better than the third pick) is more valuable than the eighth pick, then you’re essentially rooting for a losing franchise, and you have my pity.

My Prediction: Washington has their most complete game of the season, beating Dallas without ever trailing by double digits. Washington 27, Dallas 20.
