Washington Football Team: Week 7 reality checks, predictions vs. Cowboys
By Tim Payne
5. The Reality Is, Kyle Allen is better than Andy Dalton.
Both of these guys are top-end backup quarterbacks in this league. Neither is a legitimate long-term starter. But if you were forced to pick one of them to get a win for you on any given Sunday, you’d be hard-pressed not to pick Allen.
Though Dalton had a relatively successful run in Cincinnati, at this stage in his career, he doesn’t seem to have much left in the tank. His late-game heroics against New York two weeks ago were followed up by some of the worst quarterbacking you will see this year in Dallas’ loss to Arizona.
If Dalton is unable to rebound from that performance, this game could get ugly. Allen, on the other hand, though he had 2-3 very bad plays on Sunday, executed the offense well enough for his team to win.
My Prediction: Allen ends up 28-of-40 for 278 yards, one TD and one INT. Dalton ends up 38-of-55 for 245 yards, one TD, one INT, and one fumble lost.
