The Washington Football Team is dealing with some major injury issues at the receiver position. Steven Sims is still out nursing a toe injury and now, rookies Antonio Gandy-Golden and Isaiah Wright appear to be in danger of missing Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

As such, that will leave Washington with only a few receivers available including Terry McLaurin, Dontrelle Inman, and Cam Sims. New signee Robert Foster may not be able to play as he passes through the NFL’s COVID protocol while joining his new team.

Because of this, Washington is going to be calling up a couple of players from the practice squad as reported by Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post: Jeff Badet and Tony Brown.

Both Badet and Brown have only been with the team for two or fewer months, so it’s hard to know what to expect from them. That said, if one is going to have an impact on Sunday, it could be Badet. The former Oklahoma Sooner clocked a ridiculous 4.27 40-yard dash at his pro day and could help Washington stretch the field against a weak Cowboys defense.

Kyle Allen was willing to take more downfield chances last week against the Giants and if he continues to do that in Week 7, Badet may get some deep targets and could have a chance to break a big play. Either way, his presence will showcase what having a speed element at receiver can do for Washington. That will be important to note after the team signed Foster to a deal.

Badet may not ultimately do much. It seems likely that McLaurin, Inman, and Sims will get most of the playing time at receiver. But in the right packages, he can certainly be trusted as a playmaker.

After all, the Cowboys are allowing 410 yards per game, the sixth-most in the NFL, so if they struggle in coverage against Washington, Badet could be a surprise playmaker for the team and one that Dallas won’t be too keyed in on.
