Score Prediction

Expectations were low for the Washington Football Team’s matchup against the New York Giants, and it should stay that way for the team’s contest against the Dallas Cowboys.

The NFC East is a whole plane or two below the rest of the NFL, in terms of quality of play, and while Washington contributes heavily to that, it also means that every game is an opportunity to win a game they shouldn’t be expected to win.

The Cowboys are in a vulnerable position, and they have been ever since the loss of MVP-caliber quarterback Dak Prescott. Dalton has a track record as a respectable starter over the past decade, but in his first start for Dallas, he looked more like a backup, and as long as Washington gets pressure on him, they can keep that going.

Before Prescott’s injury, the Cowboys’ stacked offensive unit would have been the difference, but poor quarterback play and inconsistent blocking have rendered the Cowboys’ offense a lesser unit. If Dallas is going to control this game, it’ll be through the running game. Washington’s defense is worse against the run, and while Elliott offers the same turnover-proneness that Dalton displays, he can break the Burgundy and Gold, as we’ve seen in the past.

I think this will be a close one, courtesy of the lack of defensive consistency present. Both offenses will get some chances that they otherwise wouldn’t get. But I like Dallas’ offensive talent overall more than I like Washington’s, and defensively, while Dallas has been historically bad, Scott Turner hasn’t exactly put pressure on opposing defenses in 2020. It won’t be perfect, but Week 7 will be enough for the Cowboys to end their streak. And the Washington Football Team will fall to 1-6.

Score Prediction: WAS 29, DAL 34
