Positive 3

The decision to go for two is the biggest positive of the week.  That may seem like a reach, but it is truly a positive.

By making the decision to go for a victory and not a tie for an overtime period, Ron Rivera was signaling to his team that a victory is something they can achieve.  Rivera believes in these players and the message he sent on Sunday afternoon was one of positivity.  Going for the extra point is the easy call, but displaying confidence in your players to get the job done will go a long way toward trust and belief in the system.

Two-point conversions are not an easy task, but the message has now been sent: I know you can win. I trust you to get the job done.  I fully believe in you.  No, those aren’t actual quotes from Rivera, but that is what he was likely thinking on Sunday afternoon.  This is a positive that didn’t work out, but it will have a good effect on the team going forward.

Negative 3

Another player that continues to make an appearance here is Peyton Barber.  There was a time when he was a good running back in this league, but Barber is no longer an effective player in the NFL.  Honestly, it is time to cut ties with him and move in a different direction.

The former Auburn standout has produced 47 yards on 28 carries this season.  It’s over.  It’s time to move on.  This isn’t just a casual negative, it is a sinking ship that has no hope of being saved.
