Positive and Negative No. 1

Positive No. 1

The offensive line has received a great deal of criticism during the first quarter of the season, but there is a definite positive to talk about.  Morgan Moses is having a good season, but we want to focus on Chase Roullier for the moment.

Roullier has performed at a high level this season with little to no fanfare and that is an injustice to the former Wyoming Cowboy.  The Washington Football Team scored a major hit in the sixth round of the NFL draft with Roullier and it is time to recognize his superb play.

Roullier was solid once again on Sunday and was able to carry out his assignments effectively against the Ravens.  He has over-compensated at times this season due to poor guard play on either side, but he doesn’t complain and simply does his job.  Roullier is due to hit free agency after this season.  It would be wise for the front office to extend him soon.  Very soon.

Negative No. 1

It’s difficult when we must talk negatively about an entire unit on the Washington Football Team, but it can’t be avoided this week.  The linebackers were pretty atrocious against the Ravens and the only exception was probably Jon Bostic.  The rest – well, they were a liability for nearly the entire game.

This group was abused by the tight ends.  They were abused by receivers deploying on short routes.  They were abused by the quarterback.  They were constantly abused and gorged by the running backs.  It was that bad.  Abuse is not a term to be taken lightly of course, but what other way can it be said?  The linebackers were easily a negative against the Ravens.  Care to guess which unit will undergo a major overhaul in the offseason?
