Positive 3

The rookie receivers more than made an appearance on Sunday.  In fact, Isaiah Wright had four catches on six targets and had one rushing attempt for six yards.  That wasn’t an earth-shattering day, but he did flash some solid skills and made no serious errors.  Wright definitely needs to see more time on the field.

Antonio Gandy-Golden didn’t haul in any receptions, but the former Liberty Flame had a nifty 22-yard run in the first half on a jet sweep.  If he had another step, AGG was on his way to a long touchdown run.  Like Wright, he obviously needs to see more action.

Sunday was a good, albeit limited, day of production for the two rookie wide receivers.  Let’s hope their progress continues.  Their contributions on Sunday were a huge positive this week.

Negative 3

You knew this was coming.  Turnovers.  Bad turnovers.  Untimely turnovers.  Multiple turnovers.  Specifically, the turnovers from Dwayne Haskins.  This game was undoubtedly his worst outing as a pro.  Haskins is being placed on a huge examination table this season and everything is being examined to the maximum.  Fair or not, that is just the reality for the second-year quarterback.

It sounds like Haskins is now on a shorter leash and he will need to respond in a quick and efficient manner.

This is not a Josh Rosen situation by any stretch of the imagination, but Haskins does need to make a multiplicity of corrections – both mechanical and mental.  If it doesn’t happen this season, changes are likely to follow.
