Other interesting numbers

Here are some more numbers that showcase the strength of the Washington run defense and the weakness of the still-developing run game on the offensive side of the ball.

Washington Rush Defense

Rush yards allowed to RBs:  40 carries, 148 yards, 3.7 ypc
Rush yards allowed to QBs: 9 carries, 69 yards

Washington Rush Offense

Washington Rush Yards by RB:  48 carries, 174 yards, 3.6 ypc
Washington Rush Yards by QB:  8 carries, 25 yards

Attendance Numbers

2020 has brought many changes.  In the NFL, most teams have not allowed home fans the first 2 weeks of the season.  I thought it would be interesting to see if home field advantage has been effected.  To date, only 5 teams have allowed limited seating for fans.  Jacksonville, Dallas, Indy, Miami and Jacksonville.

Overall Home Teams: 19-14 (58 home-win percentage)

Home Teams Without Fans:  15-12 (56 home-win percentage)

Home Teams With Fans:  4-2  (67 home-win percentage)

Historically, home field teams win 57 percent of the time.  It will be interesting to see if the teams that allow fans in the stadium ultimately have an advantage over teams like Washington that plan on not allowing fans all season.

I like numbers, but the one that matters most comes in the win column.  I’d sure like to see that number reach 11 for the first time in the past 28 years.  It likely won’t happen this year, but this is an exciting process and I’m going to enjoy this season no matter what that number may be, because I’m confident they’ve got this organization trending up.

Hopefully, very soon we’ll see another very important number rise from 3 to 4!
