Score prediction

This will be a close one, and it’s one the Washington Football Team should hope to win, as they face the Ravens and the Rams in back-to-back weeks after this game. Washington and Cleveland are relatively evenly matched, and both are 1-1 after two weeks.

With that being said, I have less confidence in Washington’s offense. Scott Turner’s scheme still provides substantial upside, but Washington’s offense simply hasn’t executed well enough over the past two weeks, and they’ve very rarely been able to create long, self-sustaining drives.

The Browns, meanwhile, have done so with both their passing game and their running game. Baker Mayfield is coming off a rebound game in Week 2, while Cleveland’s rushing attack has produced positive numbers early on. Washington’s defense should be a tougher matchup than Cincinnati’s, but there’s no guarantee that Washington’s offense can take advantage of whatever opportunities they get.

I’ve got Cleveland taking this one in a close battle. Ron Rivera should allow Washington to stay close throughout the contest, but Cleveland’s offense has the edge in terms of proactivity, and they’ll have the edge in the end.

Score Prediction: WAS 20, CLE 24
