Positive 5

Fabian Moreau was thought to be a possible casualty after the preseason of 2019 and many analysts thought he would be released.  He remained with the team and had little to no impact for most of last season, but a sudden change occurred.

Moreau closed the season with some superb performances and when training camp began early in August, many expected him to be named a starter.  Ronald Darby started the last two games, but Moreau has clearly been the better cornerback by any measure. Moreau put forth a better performance on Sunday and it is probably just a matter of time before he starts ahead of Darby.

Considering Moreau’s performance since late last season and the first two games this season, it might be wise for the front office to give him a team-friendly extension of three or four years right now.  Otherwise, his value may increase as Moreau continues to play at a superb level.  Regardless, his stellar play of late is definitely a positive.

Negative 5

Brandon Scherff looked very pedestrian on Sunday and was pushed around quite often.  It’s difficult to call out such a talented offensive lineman, but his game against the Cardinals was certainly subpar.

He has ended up on injured reserve for a few weeks and should be back in the near future.  Scherff is not a player that you need to scold too often, but the team needed him against Arizona and he did not deliver.  Hopefully, he will return in a few weeks and be ready to resume his season with a renewed determination.
