No. 5 – LT Geron Christian

The Washington Football Team maintained 2018 third-round pick Geron Christian as the starter at left tackle throughout the offseason, and at the conclusion of training camp, and the introduction of the first team depth chart, nothing changed.

Christian will go into Week 1 as the starting blindside blocker, and that’s not exactly a comforting proposition. Christian has struggled in recent regular season opportunities, sometimes displaying mechanical errors and issues with functional play strength.

With that being said, Christian will need another chance if he’s ever to prove that he can be a valuable addition to the Washington Football Team, and Week 1 will be his first. He’ll presumably be up against defensive end Derek Barnett, who was a limited participant earlier this week, and has never logged more than 6.5 sacks in a season.

Christian’s task won’t be easy, but all things considered, his draw in Week 1 isn’t as tough as it could have been. If Christian can show competence in his new role, it’ll not only help the offense perform more efficiently, but also provide him with some long-term security.
