1. CB Sidney Jones

There are few players available on the waiver wire with more upside than Sidney Jones. The former second-round pick by the Eagles in 2017 would’ve been a first-round pick had he not torn his Achilles during a Pro Day workout. Despite his ceiling though, he has had trouble living up to it in Philadelphia.

With the Eagles, Jones just had trouble getting and staying on the field. He played in a career-high 12 games last year after playing 10 combined the previous two years. He put up solid numbers but like much of the Eagles secondary, he was prone to getting burned on occasion.

Still, Jones has good ball skills and logged two picks and eight pass defenses last year. He could do better if he ever gets fully healthy and cleans up his technique.

Jones is just 24, so some team will give him a chance to prove himself in 2020. He could pan out with proper coaching and perhaps his former teammate Ronald Darby, now in Washington, will vouch for him as a potential depth option that could pan out.

Washington may not desperately need a corner given the intriguing mix of you options they have at the position. But Jones is too good a player to pass on. If Washington adds him, he could eventually re-emerge as a starter or at least a top backup for the team. It will be interesting to see where Jones ends up, but don’t discount Washington as they decide who to target on waivers.
