Wide Receivers (6)

Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims, Dontrelle Inman, Antonio Gandy-Golden, Trey Quinn, Cam Sims

Receiver is the hardest position on the Washington roster to predict. Everyone knows that McLaurin and Sims are roster locks. And it seems likely that Inman will make the roster. He has impressed since signing with the team in August and may be the No. 2 receiver to start the season.

Gandy-Golden is also a roster lock of sorts, but the only question with him is that he’s injured right now. The team probably won’t put him on IR, but it’s at least possible.

Beyond those four, however, there’s nothing solidified about the team’s receiving corps. They could carry five players at the spot or six. They could opt for experience or youth. They could even completely eschew their back-end roster candidates and grab a couple of receivers off waivers or via trade.

In short, there are a lot of options. But for now, we’re going to have Washington stick with the experience they have on the roster. Quinn and Sims are each in their third years in Washington and do have some value. Quinn can play special teams and is a decent slot backup. Sims has excellent size at 6-foot-5 and has stood out during the offseason once again. If he can live up to his potential (a big if), he could end up being a rock-solid backup.

Isaiah Wright and Johnathon Johnson are both undrafted players that could make the team. For now though, they make more sense as practice squad stashes though Wright may have the upper hand on Johnson as he looks to make the roster.

There should also be some solid receivers on waivers, so Washington will have to keep an eye on those guys to see if any are worth scooping up.
