Linebackers

Roster Locks: Thomas Davis, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Cole Holcomb, Jon Bostic, Shaun Dion Hamilton

No, you didn’t just gloss over them. I don’t have Reuben Foster or Ryan Anderson listed as locks. Sure, both received lip service from the Washington Football Team’s coaches earlier in the offseason, but that’s hardly a distinguishing factor.

All of the players above have received similar endorsements, and the difference is that all the players above have, at some point, rotated in with the starting groups. Foster and Anderson have not done so frequently, if at all.

Washington will likely keep six or seven linebackers, but even then, Foster and Anderson aren’t only fighting with each other. There’s also Donald Payne, a young, athletic linebacker with pre-existing regular season experience, and Khaleke Hudson, an energetic rookie who looks to be a solid special teamer. How the back end of the linebacker position stacks up will be of great interest this weekend.
