Wrap-up and future

The drafts of the last decade have been nothing short of an exercise in futility it seems, but there is some hope. The WFT added many blue-chip players in the early rounds in recent years and the investment in these players should pay some handsome dividends soon.

This is one thing the team did right in the remaining years of the last decade.  Adding players from championship-caliber programs has been a very wise strategy.

After the 2019 season, the WFT began a new journey that seeks to re-make the franchise in many ways.  A new coach who is highly respected.  A new media leader who is providing top-notch coverage.  A new team president who is smarter than all of us combined.

A new direction.  A new promise of excellence.  A new future.

We have also retired a beloved team name and while that journey has been a tough sell to many of the Burgundy and Gold faithful, it was truly needed as all of us embark on this new road together.  In time, we will come to accept it and embrace it.

Thanks for traveling with us on this journey from the previous decade.  For fans of the team – may this new era bring you many successes and championships. And, as always, the Riggo’s Rag team will be here to cover it all for you.
