Round 4

There are times when a team will purchase the fool’s gold of a superb NFL Combine. At the 2018 Combine, Penn State free safety Troy Apke impressed with his blazing speed and the WFT decided to invest in some of that gold. Apke was rated by most scouts as a sixth or seventh-rounder and there were a few pundits who thought the former Nittany Lion was no more than a priority UDFA.

Apke is a total bust as a fourth-rounder — at least for now. He ended up on injured reserve after playing in just two games his rookie season — mostly on special teams.  He appeared in fifteen games last season and once again, most of that duty occurred with the special teams unit. Apke will need to prove his worth this season and if it doesn’t happen, his career will end with little to no fanfare.
