Moving Forward

What does this offseason mean for the Washington Football Team moving forward? It’s not a simple question.

Ron Rivera has already shown us he’s here to make a change. Just this past weekend Derrius Guice was arrested on domestic violence charges and he was released almost immediately.

Rivera clearly isn’t playing games. If there’s any hint of the old Washington, he will sniff it out and get rid of it, just as he did with Guice.

The new management should give all Washington fans a lot of hope for the future of this franchise. I expect them to lead in a way we have not been accustomed to. The depth chart consists of many “wait and see” and “what if” young players with some veteran leaders in the locker room such as Adrian Peterson, Thomas Davis, and Ryan Kerrigan.

A lot of things need to go right for this roster to make some buzz this season. But it’s not about this season. Take a moment to understand that. The team could go 2-14 this season. It’s a real possibility. Don’t let that discourage you.

This season is about the leadership of Ron Rivera and how he’s handling this team (Chase Young doesn’t hurt either). Washington will become a franchise that people respect rather than laugh at. Dan Snyder is going to be Dan Snyder. We all know that he’s not going anywhere. But the team has guys at the top like Rivera and Del Rio who won’t let the team sink like it has in the past.

Next. Is there reason for optimism in D.C.?. dark

Have faith that they will right the ship. Because Washington will be back.
