The Rest

Timon ParrisThis is Parris’ third year in Washington and it represents his last chance to break out and make the roster. Standing 6-foot-6 and tipping the scales at 312 pounds, Parris has the prototypical size that teams look for in tackles. And if he has honed his technique enough, there will be a role for him in Washington’s tackle room.

But at this point, seeing Parris emerge as a starter at left tackle is unlikely. He’s better served trying to challenge Geron Christian for a roster spot while pushing Charles/Lucas for the swing tackle position. Parris will have every chance to make the roster, but he’s not going to factor into the starting battle.

Paul Adams. Adams is another player with great size (6-foot-6, 317 pounds), and the fact that he made it to Washington’s 80-man roster is a good sign that the coaching staff likes his potential.

But at this point, Adams seems more like a developmental tackle that could be stashed on the practice squad than someone who will legitimately compete for a starting job. Maybe he’ll surprise a bit, but he’s sixth on the tackle depth chart at the moment.

Kevin PamphilePamphile was a late addition to the Washington roster, joining the team just before the beginning of training camp. Throughout his career, he has played in 56 games and made 35 starts, most of which have come on the interior line.

That said, Pamphile did enter the league as a tackle. And at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, he has the frame needed to play the position if necessary. That said, he seems more likely to compete for a role at the left guard position than to be a true challenger at tackle. Maybe he can be a backup swing lineman at the two positions, but seeing him factor into the left tackle battle would be surprising.

We’ll soon see what happens at left tackle for Washington. But either way, it could turn into a bumpy road. Fans will be rooting for Lucas to continue his solid play from 2019, Charles to step up sooner than expected, or Christian to make a massive leap and shock everyone. Nothing is settled, but at least the presence of Charles gives the team some hope at the position.
