Ryan Lewis

Experience: 4th season

Draft Status: Undrafted, 2017

2019 Stats: 13 games, three starts, 28 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, five pass deflections

2020 Outlook: Ryan Lewis is an intriguing add to the Washington Football Team’s cornerback room. He was brought in late this offseason, so time is working against him. But it speaks to his potential that Rivera and his staff put in a waiver claim for Lewis, and Lewis has the production from 2019 to back up his resume.

Expected Role: Lewis broke into the league on special teams, but last season, he played a career-high 26 percent of his snaps on defense for the Dolphins. Miami saw his potential as a cover man, and he flashed on numerous occasions. Lewis seems to have the most utility as a rotational defender, among Washington’s current backup options.

Status: Count Lewis as a player on the bubble. Lewis hasn’t had as much time as other players to get the scheme under wraps and such, but he’s a near elite athlete with clear development to build off of in the last twelve months. Given the uncertainty of the team’s cornerback group, he could be kept as the defensive back on deck.
