Washington Football Team Training Camp Profiles: Cornerback
By Ian Cummings
Positional Outlook
You may have seen a line like this before, and that’s because I don’t really know another way to describe it: The Washington Football cornerback group is an intriguing mix of uncertainty and potential — or something like that.
You have guys like Darby and Fuller and Moreau, who all haven’t been able to maintain steady starting roles, for different reasons. But at the same time, all three can be, at the very least, competent, productive starters if things go their way.
In the wings, you have young players like Moreland, Johnson, and Lewis, who all have a ton of athletic potential, but might just need more time to grow into their NFL roles. It’s a situation that could get out of hand quickly if those kinds of players are forced into premier roles too soon, but at the same time, they have the physical traits that are conducive to success.
The Washington Football Team’s cornerback group will be a subject of focused attention this season. There’s not a great deal of security there, but if things click, and if the front four plays as well as expected, this secondary could be a pleasant surprise.
