Khaleke Hudson

Experience: 1st season

Draft Status: 2020 fifth-round pick, 162nd overall

2019 Stats: 13 games, 101 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three pass defenses at Michigan

2020 Outlook: Hudson was an intriguing pick out of Michigan by Washington. He was a highly productive player for the Wolverines in the Viper role, a combination safety, linebacker, and edge rusher role in Jim Harbaugh’s defense. There were questions about his position at the next level, but in the 4-3 defense, he should find a home as a linebacker.

Hudson is a high-character player, a team leader from Michigan, and he can perform a variety of roles on defense and special teams. His versatility will be an asset and Washington will certainly find a way to use him.

Expected Role: Special teams ace and backup SAM linebacker. In college, Hudson had five blocker punts and did very well as a situational edge rusher. That makes him a nice fit for the SAM position in the 4-3 defense, but he will likely begin his career as a backup. He will emerge as one of the special teams unit’s leaders and could emerge as a future captain there.

Status: Roster lock. Hudson’s floor as a do-it-all linebacker and special teamer is high. He may never develop into a top-tier talent, but keeping him as a backup and punt blocking specialist makes too much sense. He’ll have some competition but as a rock-solid fifth-round pick, he should make the team.
