Chase Young

Experience: 1st season

Draft Status: 2020 first-round pick, second overall

2019 Stats (College): 12 games, 46 total tackles, 21.0 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, three pass deflections

2020 Outlook: Those of you who were here when I wrote my film breakdown on Chase Young know that I’m not just saying this; there’s a chance Young could be the Washington football team’s best edge rusher right out of the gate.

There’s always an acclimation period for rookies, no matter how talented, but on tape, Young showed off an incredible combination of size, athleticism, bend, urgency, and hand proficiency, and his amalgamation of traits should put him in a position to produce right away for the burgundy and gold.

Expected Role: Young will likely hold down a starting spot for the Washington football team, although he could rotate early on with veteran Ryan Kerrigan. Kerrigan might be better against the run at this point, but Young’s insane pass rushing upside will have him on the field in passing situations early and often. He produces quality pressure with exceptional consistency, and Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio likely can’t wait to put him on the field.

Status: Do I even need to say it? Roster lock. Heavy-duty padlock.
