Tim Settle

Experience: 3rd season

Draft Status: 2018 fifth-round pick, 163rd overall

2019 Stats: 15 games (one start), 14 tackles, two TFL, two sacks

2020 Outlook: Because of the top three tackles on this list, Settle doesn’t get to play a whole lot. He saw the field for just 27 percent of the snaps last year. But when he is out there, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Settle has a terrific 6-foot-3, 308-pound frame. He slimmed down after being over 330 pounds in college, and he should be able to tap into more of his top-tier athleticism as a result. In the 4-3 defense, there should be more snaps available for him, so he may find a bigger role in the Washington defense.

Expected Role: Top backup. Settle is technically the fourth defensive tackle on the depth chart but as NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay noted, Ron Rivera makes sure to include Settle when talking about the team’s defensive tackle group.

It’s safe to assume that Settle could see an increase in snaps and could crack 35 percent even if he is a backup. Defensive-minded coaches love rotating to keep linemen fresh, so that could benefit Settle quite a bit, especially in the early stages of the season.

Status: Roster lock. On another team, it’s not out of the question that Settle could be in the mix to start. Washington is lucky to have him as a backup.
