Offense

Quarterbacks

Starter: Dwayne Haskins

Haskins is the undisputed starter to begin the season. Even if Alex Smith is able to play, Haskins is firmly entrenched as the top quarterback.

Backup: Kyle Allen

Alex Smith will likely miss another season, but his comeback has been nothing short of impressive. Rookie UDFA Steven Montez is all but certain to be on the practice squad in 2020, but an injury could elevate him to the roster.

Running Backs

Starter: Adrian Peterson

Backup: Derrius Guice

Backup: J.D. McKissic

Backup: Antonio Gibson

Peterson is the starter at running back until proven otherwise. Guice is the backup for now.  McKissic and Gibson will serve as the third-down / passing-down backs. Gibson could also see some time at receiver.

Wide Receivers

Starter: Terry McLaurin

Starter: Steven Sims

Backup: Antonio Gandy-Golden

Backup: Trey Quinn

Backup: Isaiah Wright, Free Agent, or Trade

Backup:  Free Agent or Trade

A key injury and an unfortunate circumstance has changed the Washington Football Team’s wide receiving corps considerably. Adding another receiver through free agency or a trade is very possible — perhaps both moves occur if Wright is not ready.

Tight Ends

Starter: Logan Thomas

Backup: Jeremy Sprinkle

Backup: Hale Hentges

Several scenarios are possible with the tight ends. A trade for a pass-catching tight end could materialize. Rookie Thad Moss could impress at training camp and supplant either Sprinkle or Hentges, but there is a chance he could be placed on the injured reserve list for 2020.

Tackles

Starter: Cornelius Lucas

Starter: Morgan Moses

Backup: Saahdiq Charles

Backup: Geron Christian

Moses has shed about 20 pounds. and is reportedly in the best shape of his life. Saahdiq Charles could push Lucas out of the starting left tackle spot at some point during the season. Could Timon Parris force Christian off of the roster?

Guards

Starter: Brandon Scherff

Starter: Wes Martin

Backup: Wes Schweitzer

Backup: Ross Pierschbacher

Scherff is the undisputed starter at right guard and Martin is probable to start at left guard.

Centers

Starter: Chase Roullier

Backup: Keith Ismael

Ismael could also serve as a backup guard if the team decides to go with nine offensive linemen.
